BRIEF PROFILE:

Dr. Lyudmila Sarek (Kishikova) is a UK-trained Specialist Ophthalmologist in oculoplastic surgery, with more than ten years' experience in ophthalmology. She completed higher specialist training in the Northern Deanery, United Kingdom, holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and was awarded her UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2025. She then completed a highly competitive post-CCT fellowship in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery at James Cook University Hospital, UK.

Her clinical practice focuses on functional and aesthetic eyelid surgery, including blepharoplasty, as well as ptosis, eyelid malposition, periocular lesions and tumours, eyelid reconstruction, lacrimal disorders and periocular aesthetic treatments. Her surgical experience includes upper eyelid blepharoplasty, ptosis and brow surgery, entropion and ectropion repair, eyelid lesion excision and reconstruction, punctoplasty and external dacryocystorhinostomy. She also provides comprehensive ophthalmic care, with extensive experience in cataract surgery, ophthalmic laser procedures and the management of urgent ophthalmic and oculoplastic conditions.

Dr. Sarek also offers non-surgical periocular and facial aesthetic treatments, including botulinum toxin (Botox). She holds an MSc with Distinction in Skin Ageing and Aesthetic Medicine from the University of Manchester, where she received the programme's Outstanding Achievement Award. Drawing on her oculoplastic and aesthetic training, she takes an individualised, evidence-based approach focused on facial harmony, preservation of natural expression and subtle, natural-looking outcomes.

She has completed visiting observerships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, and the UCLA Stein Eye Institute, Los Angeles. There she learned from internationally renowned oculoplastic surgeons and gained furtherexposure to advanced periocular surgery, facial aesthetics and contemporary oculoplastic practice.

Dr. Sarek has taught ophthalmology on the Newcastle University medical curriculum, delivering lectures and practical workshops for medical students. She is active in research, education and service development. Her work includes 19 peer-reviewed publications (published as Kishikova), a book chapter on thyroid eye disease and more than 50 national and international presentations. She regularly presents at leading meetings, including those of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society, the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the World Society of Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Her academic interests include eyelid reconstruction, thyroid eye disease and outcomes in oculoplastic surgery.
