A highly dedicated team to cater to all your general surgery needs

A well-designed surgical department should have sufficient space for staff and equipment. This encourages a smooth flow of people and equipment within the room. Even though the layout of each surgical unit varies according to the surgical service provided, all units share similar characteristics such as:

  • The surgical room should be at least 400 square feet
  • The surgical room size should reflect the space needed by the staff, patient, and equipment so that the surgical procedure can be smooth
  • Surgical suites that require specialized equipment or additional personnel can be larger; this will give you enough space so that sensitive medical equipment will not be placed in high-traffic areas

We meet all these requirements. Our surgical department provides caring, individualized attention to all patients who are hospitalized for various medical conditions. Our surgeons work together with the nurses, pharmacists, and therapists to provide quality care to every patient. We provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients who are under going various surgeries. Bariatric Department

The Bariatric Department includes a team of surgeons, gastroenterologists, dietitians, psychiatrists, physiotherapists, endocrinologists, and pulmonologists. This department is also called “Metabolic & Weight Loss Department,” and it offers comprehensive services such as:

Non-Surgical

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Endocrine changes to control diabetes and hypertension where cardiologists will be involved
  • Increase lung function with the help of pulmonologists
  • Help the patients with physiotherapy in both short and long term with different exercises that will be needed before and after treatment
  • Medical treatment by gastroenterologists in the form of tablets and/or injections

Surgical

After going through non-surgical options, if surgery is still needed, we provide comprehensive surgery where every patient will be thoroughly assessed, and all info will be explained. This could be through videos, lectures, and leaflets so that the choice will be the patient’s, helped with our advice by the end of the day.

All surgeries are Minimal Access Surgeries, which we can call “Keyhole” surgeries, such as:

  • Sleeve gastrectomy
  • Band plication
  • Gastric bypass
  • Other more advanced surgeries

We care for the patient being empowered. We don’t call it “Patient-centered care” but rather “Patient empowered care”, because the patient has the power of making educated decisions as we provide lots of support for the patients and their families. We also provide endoscopy treatments without operations, and there are various options for them, such as:

  • Endoscopy
  • Plication
  • Endoscopic sleeve gastrectomy
  • Endoscopic Balloons, including the most important type of balloons which is “Smart Balloons”

Surgical Procedures

We also have a very important division within the surgical procedures, which is the colorectal conditions that include:

Functional bowel disorders
  • Chronic constipation
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Incontinence, where people can’t control their sphincters

Inflammatory bowel disease

  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Ulcerative Colitis

We offer all types of treatment for these conditions, medically and surgically, including the most advanced surgery, called “Pouch Surgery”, where we remove the colon and create a new colon and save the patient from permanent stomach ache.

Other common colorectal conditions:

Hemorrhoids, Piles, fissures, fistula, and complex fistulae

All these can be treated now with endoscopy, with minimal access leaving no scars, no wound, and no pain! Patients can go home on the same day.

This sets us apart from everyone else. We have laser, staples, and all the technology to help us treat these conditions.

Pilonidal Sinu

This is an advanced surgery performed with special equipment that can be done with local or general anesthesia depending on the patient’s choice.

Colorectal cancer

All surgeries for early or advanced colorectal cancer are catered for in FUH through minimal access techniques, so we don’t do minimal cuts anymore. We apply Enhanced Recovery after surgery, so the average hospital stay for significant cancer operations is 2-3 days.
The International Society of Enhanced Recovery governs us, and they provide us with guidance on what to do with every patient, and the patient will be powered on how to apply this.

Breast surgeries

We can take care of all kinds of breast tumors, whether benign or malignant. We have a multidisciplinary team of professionals who look after patients with cancer, including corrective surgeries.
After we have removed a breast, we will create a new breast immediately during the surgery; so, women should be reassured that their bodies will remain intact.

Gall bladder conditions

We provide surgeries for gallstones or advanced gallbladder conditions, including pancreatic cancer. We can fully treat it here due to our team, including gastroenterologists. All the surgeries are minimal access, so we will not need big operations.

Liver disease

We can do all surgeries for liver resection by removing part of the liver or most of it. We can correct other liver problems that do happen a lot in the UAE or the Middle East in general.

Obstructive jaundice

When a patient has a stone blocking the ducts, we can do the surgery needed for it here.

Splenectomy

This is a procedure that we perform to remove the spleen, useful in certain blood diseases. There are blood diseases where we can cure it in half an hour when we remove the spleen, and patients can go home the next day.

When a patient has a stone blocking the ducts, we can do the surgery needed for it here.

Hernias

We can also provide treatment for all types of hernias. We treat this condition by surgery because there’s no other treatment for hernia.

Skin surgery

We provide other surgeries, such as removing masses from the skin or the subcutaneous tissue. We do it in the outpatient’s; they don’t need to be admitted for this.

Emergencies

We work closely with the Emergency Department and Gastroenterology Department to deal with all emergencies such as bleeding. We work with the gastroenterologists as a team either to control the bleeding with endoscopy or operations, and we are here 24 hours to provide that.

All services are provided on-site, and we have all the support services like the best CT scans, MRIs, and the best radiologists. Everything is here, so no one needs to go anywhere else, and most importantly, we work as a team.
