Fakeeh University Hospital (FUH) is proud to partner with The DAISY Foundation to honor extraordinary nurses who make a meaningful difference through clinical excellence, compassion, and person-centered care.

The DAISY Award® provides patients, families, visitors, physicians, and colleagues an opportunity to say “Thank You” by sharing a story about a nurse who has made a meaningful difference in their care or experience.

WHAT IS DAISY?

The DAISY Award® is an international recognition program created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 at the age of 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), an autoimmune disease. During Patrick's hospitalization, his family experienced the extraordinary skill, compassion, and kindness of his nurses. Inspired by their care, his family established The DAISY Foundation to recognize nurses who make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.

WHAT MAKES AN EXTRAORDINARY NURSE?

An extraordinary DAISY nurse demonstrates exceptional nursing through:

Compassion: Showing kindness, empathy, and genuine concern for patients and families.
Clinical Excellence: Providing safe, skilled, knowledgeable, and evidence-based nursing care.
Advocacy: Speaking up for patients and supporting their safety, dignity, and individual
needs.
Meaningful Connection: Building trusting relationships that help patients and families feel heard,
supported, and valued.
Going Above and Beyond: Making a meaningful difference through actions that leave a lasting impact on
the patient and family.

Anyone who experiences or witnesses extraordinary nursing care can nominate a nurse.

This includes:

Patients
Family members
Visitors
Nurses and other colleagues
Physicians and clinicians
Other hospital staff

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU NOMINATE?

Share your story: Tell us about the nurse and the care that made a difference.
Your nomination is reviewed: Nominations are reviewed by the FUH DAISY/Nursing Recognition Committee according to established recognition criteria.
A DAISY Honoree is selected: The committee selects a nurse whose story demonstrates extraordinary nursing care.
We celebrate their impact: The selected nurse is recognized through an official DAISY Award celebration.
Every nomination matters: A nomination is itself a meaningful expression of appreciation and recognition.

We are proud to celebrate the nurses who have been recognized through The DAISY Award® for their extraordinary contributions to patient care.

Our honorees are celebrated through FUH's Nursing Recognition and Reward Program and, where applicable, featured through our official channels and The DAISY Foundation's Wall of Honor.

Selected DAISY honorees may also be featured through The DAISY Foundation's recognition platforms.
