Brief Profile

Dr. Volkan ÇAKIR is a CIRSE-accredited, TBIR-certified senior neurointerventional and interventional radiologist. He has 15 years of experience in that speciality. Dr. Çakır has held prominent positions such as Head of the Interventional Radiology Department and Associate Professor at reputed university hospitals in Turkey.

Dr. Cakir is a respected expert in the field of Interventional Neuroradiology and has participated in various national and international courses and training programs. His academic contributions, including lectures and scientific articles on topics such as brain aneurysm treatment, brain AVM treatment, acute stroke treatment, and carotid artery stenting, have solidified his reputation as a leading name in the field.
Dr. Cakir also has a lot of experience in peripheral and oncological interventions such as peripheral artery and vein diseases, tumor treatments, uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization.

Dr. Cakir has authored numerous scientific articles and papers. In 2015, he was awarded the “Best Medical Publication” by the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society, earning the CVIR Editor’s Medal.   Additionally, he has been a regular reviewer for the journal Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) and has presented over fifty papers at scientific meetings, earning high respect in the academic community.

Dr. Volkan Çakır is actively involved in scientific communities and holds advisory and administrative roles. Since 2013, he has been a regular reviewer for the CVIR journal and served as a board member of the Turkish Interventional Radiology Society from 2017 to 2020.
