Brief Profile

Dr. Volkan Çakır is a CIRSE-accredited, European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) and Turkish Board of Interventional Radiology (TBIR) certified senior consultant neurointerventional and interventional radiologist with over 15 years of clinical and academic experience. He has held prominent leadership positions, including Head of the Interventional Radiology Department and Associate Professor at reputed university hospitals in Turkiye, and is currently part of the expert team at Fakeeh University Hospital, Dubai.

Dr. Çakır is a respected expert in Interventional Neuroradiology, with extensive experience in the treatment of brain aneurysms, AVMs, acute stroke (mechanical thrombectomy), and carotid artery stenting, as well as peripheral vascular and interventional oncology procedures, including chemoembolization, radioembolization, tumor ablation, uterine fibroid embolization, and prostate artery embolization.

He has completed advanced international trainings in stroke treatment, neurovascular interventions, and peripheral vascular therapies in Turkiye and Germany, and has delivered over 50 presentations at national and international congresses. His academic work includes numerous peer-reviewed articles and lectures on minimally invasive treatment innovations.

In 2015, Dr. Çakır received the prestigious CVIR Editor’s Medal for Best Medical Publication. He is an active reviewer for the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) journal and served as a Board Member of the Turkish Interventional Radiology Society from 2017 to 2020. Recognized for his dedication to continuous self-improvement and high-quality patient care, he continues to inspire colleagues and students through his scientific contributions and clinical expertise.
